Sun & Sand - Scraptastic Club "Wipeout" kit layout

Hey everyone! I'm back from my summer vacation and am trying to catch up! Here's a layout I created for Scraptastic Club using the June "Wipeout" kit and add-on. I adore the bright and happy colors of this kit and when the email with June’s “first look” arrived in my email box I knew straight away that this was the kit I wanted!

I started today’s layout by cutting one of Scraptastic Club’s older cut files (Summertime Rolls from July 2015) and sized it to fit my 12 x 12 page. Next I matted my photo onto two different pieces of patterned paper and proceeded by adding many of the tickets, tags, labels & cards that are part of this kit. Here’s the end result:

I also used the Wipeout stamps: the waves in three different places and the “outside all day” stamp.

I adore all the tickets, labels and cards in this kit!! And how about that flair button?! So awesome!

And the puffy stickers are so awesome as well!

That’s it for now! Thank you so much for stopping by and wishing you all a fabulous day!

Scraptastic Club - Subscriber Challenge

Every month on the Scraptastic Club blog we hold a "Subscriber Challenge" and this month the challenge was to choose a photo posted in the subscriber Facebook group and then scraplift it. So that's what I did! I used the June "Wipeout" kit and add-on to create this page:

I soooo love the Wipeout kit! It's so colorful and there are so many bits and pieces I love ... like all those Elle's Studio die-cuts and cards!!

Here are a few more close-ups:

Except for the wood veneer circle everything is from the Wipeout kit and add-on. The wood veneer is from an older Scraptastic Club kit.

And before I forget, here's the layout from Stacy Howard Cheser I chose from the Scraptastic Club Subscriber Facebook page and lifted:

I found this layout so inspiring because of the awesome triangle border. I didn't want to create an exact copy so I chose another shape and went with flags to create the border on my page. The rest of my layout is very similar to this one I think.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Doodlebug Puppy Love Layout

Hi everyone! Yesterday one of my Puppy Love layouts was featured on Doodlbug's blog, so I thought I'd share it here as well. When I first laid eyes on this collection, I swear I felt my heart beat faster! I've always had a soft spot for dog collections, but this one is definitely my all time favorite!!

Here's the layout I created for Doodlebug's blog. The photo was taken just after my dog had gone for a swim in the river (we were on vacation in the south of France where it was awfully hot at the time). She looked so adorable afterwards I wanted to capture it on film. But although I tried for the longest time she refused to look me in the (camera) "eye". In the end I settled for this photo and I think she still looks super sweet.

I loved that when I dug through the package of "Odds & Ends" I found a die-cut of a dog which was very similar in looks. Of course I had to include it on my page somewhere.

Another all time favorite are these dog shaped cute clips. Aren't they the very best?!

And of course I had to include another birdie ... I said it in one of my former blog posts: I find these little birds so super cute I add them to almost all of my (Doodlebug) projects! The chunky twine is another favorite!

And here's yet another dog die-cut. The "odds & ends" package is filled to the brim with the most amazing die-cuts and it's so very hard to choose which ones to use and which ones to use for a later project.

For a better look at the Puppy Love collection hop over to this blog post of May 19! I can assure you it's amazing. I can't wait to see what you will all create with this awesome collection!! Don't forget to share!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! Wishing you happy crafting!

Travel - The Cut Shoppe

Hi everyone! Today I've got a layout to share I created for The Cut Shoppe. Last May when we were in New York my daughter wanted me to take her photo posing with one of those human statues on Times Square. I thought she would choose Mickey or one of the Disney princesses, but instead she chose the "Statue of Liberty":

For this page I used the fun cut file "And Then" and went with the ampersand in the top right corner. I love this cut file so much! All four ampersands are terrific and I had a hard time choosing one as all of them would have worked perfectly with this photo.

More often than not, when I cut a cut file I cut it from white cardstock. This time however, I decided to cut if from a piece of patterned paper and chose one of the sheets of the fabulous Pebbles' Everyday collection (which I used for my entire layout).

And because I really love to see this cut file on my page, I only used one small photo and a few die-cuts to decorate my layout. I added some machine stitching for extra texture and a bit of hand written journaling and I was done!

Hope you like it!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today to take a look. Wishing you a wonderful day!

Paris is always a good idea!! - Pretty Little Studio

Hi everyone! Today I've got this Paris layout up on Pretty Little Studio's blog. I used the fabulous "Here & There" designer collection from Hello Heather. I was really happy when my daughter decided to visit Paris for a couple of days! I even gave her instructions to take as many photos as possible so I could use this collection to scrap her photos! Here's what I created for today's blog post:

Last Sunday I attended a workshop from Paige Evans and she totally inspired me to hand stitch this heart and use water color paint on my layout!! I filled the inside of the embroidered heart with the gold dipped heart die-cuts and some other die-cuts and stickers. Here's a photo where you can see the gold a bit better:

I also love those camera stickers in this collection. There's a whole sheet of them!

And my favorite part of the layout is the cluster on the left of the photo. Don't you jus love that Eiffel tower die-cut, the vellum tape and the Paris journaling card?? And those rose stickers are so adorable as well!

The Cut Shoppe "Getting To Know You" Blog Hop!!

Hey everyone!! Welcome to the "Getting To Know You" blog hop from The Cut Shoppe!! You should be arriving from Eunyoung Lee's blog, if not you can start at The Cut Shoppe blog.

Each of the designers in this blog hop is giving away a $ 5.- Gift Certificate to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store so make sure you visit all of the designers' blogs and don't forget to leave a comment everywhere! I've included the complete blog hop list at the end of this post.

I started on the TCS's new design team as of July 1st and can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this. I've loved Ashley's cut files from the day she started designing them and am now so fortunate to have access to all of the new files from day one!!

Here's a layout I created for today's blog hop and used the super fun "Love Rules" cut file Ashley offered for FREE here on the TCS blog on February 11. Hop over if you want it too, it's still available!!

I used Pink Paislee's "Fancy Free" collection designed by Paige Evans which I adore! Here are a few close-up photos. Except using cut files on my pages I also love layering and creating clusters like I did here:

There are just so many fun details in this collection and I wanted to use all of them. The disadvantage of this being that I ended up covering up the inside of the cut file which is a large heart.

I adore those puffy stickers like this birdie!!

And this is the cut file I used, which you can find HERE (for free!):

Now on to the "get to know you" questions!

1. How many times in a week do you work on something scrapbook related?
  • Well, that's an easy one: every day of the week!
2. What's your favorite subject to scrapbook?
  • I almost always scrap my family (my 3 kids & husband), sometimes my parents, relatives & friends and sometimes I scrap  a page about me.
3. What is your favorite color to use on your layouts/projects? What is your least favorite color?
  • My favorite color is red and anything close to that color like pink/fuchsia/orange. I love bright happy colors! (I think the layout I created for today speaks for itself :).
  • My least favorite color is grey or any dull color for that matter.
4. Why do you like using cut files on your layouts/projects?
  • I adore using cut files on (almost all of) my pages because they give an extra dimension to your pages. They are so versatile: you can make them your own by changing the size or by cutting them from patterned paper instead of cardstock, or instead of cutting you can also print the file and use that or use the print & cut ... the possibilities are endless!
5. What are some of your other favorite hobbies? If you were not a scrapbooker, what other hobby do you think would consume most of your time?
  • I've always had many hobbies and until I found scrapbooking reading took up most of my free time. Beside reading I love traveling, walking, aqua jogging, line dancing, the cinema, watching detectives, knitting ...
6. Tell us 5 things we don't know about you!
  • I moved house 12 times but have been living in my current house for 20 years now and am not planning on leaving it any time soon!
  • I love my garden but don't really like working in it.
  • I'm 52 but still feel like a 38 year old.
  • I'm addicted to coffee; I can drink 20 cups a day (but force myself not to!)
  • I'm a hoarder of scrapbook stuff, books and hand bags (given the chance!).
Okay, so now you know "all" about me. If you'd like to learn all about the other design team members just follow the hop! Here's the blog hop order once again:

MONIQUE LIEDTKE - you're here!

Thank you so much for joining in this hop and don't forget to check The Cut Shoppe blog next week on July 13th to see if you're one of the winners of the $ 5.- Gift Certificate to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store!!

Now it's time to hop over to the blog of the amazing Michelle Stokes to learn more about her! Wishing you lots of fun during the rest of your hop!

Doodlebug Kitten Smitten Layout

This week Doodlebug is sharing my "Kitten Smitten" layout on their blog. It's such a shame, but in our family we are all allergic to cats and I had to ask a friend for a photo of her cats. I simply adore this collection and if we hadn't been allergic I surely would have gone out and adopted a cat from a shelter just to be able to use this collection! But to be honest, I love all animals and my allergic kids are the main reason we don't have lots and lots of pets in the house.

Here's what I created for today's blog post:

I started my layout by cutting out the huge heart (cut file from The Cut Shoppe) to use as background for my photo. More often than not I cut these background cut files from white cardstock but as I had decided to go with a black & white photo I wanted a colorful background.

I matted the photo on that fabulous newsprint paper (morning mews) and created a cluster of elements on the right side of my photo. I added die-cuts from the "odds & ends" package, a cat shape sprinkle, the fishy bone paper clip and some tags from the "labels & tags" package.

The title (photo below) consists of another die-cut from the "odds & ends" package and was simply perfect for this photo. And isn't that mouse super cute?!

Above the photo I adhered one of Doodlebug's birdies. As far as I'm concerned one can never have enough birds!

I added a little bit of journaling, just stuck to the simple facts, and adhered pieces of border sticker beneath it to ground the text strips to my page.

Really love how this turned out.

For more photos of this awesome collection, hop over to the blog post from May 18 where the entire collection is shown!

For now I'm wishing you happy scrapping and thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Mermaid - Pretty Little Studio

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing one of my “Treasure Island” layouts on Pretty Little Studio's blog. Although this collection isn’t one of the brand new ones, it’s still one of my favorites! I chose a photo of my daughter which I’ve wanted to scrap from the moment I saw it (I wasn’t the one who took it). This week I finally sat down and did just that.

I started my page by misting the white cardstock with some yellow Mister Huey’s color mist and used a stencil with small circles. Next I punched a whole lot of circles from different patterned papers using different sized circle punches. I arranged these on my layout following the flow of the slide. Next I matted my photo and placed this on top of the circles and tucked one of the 3×4″ cards a bit under it on the left side. On the other side of the photo came the cute octopus die-cut. I finished my page by adding all the other bits and pieces like the stickers, the cut-outs, the word die-cut, the sequins and the tab. The journaling came last and then I was done! Hope you like it!

And a few close-ups:
