Best Day Ever - The Cut Shoppe

Hi everyone! I wanted to share another layout I created for The Cut Shoppe using the "Funky Florals" cut file. I chose a photo of my daughter on one of her favorite days during her foreign exchange High School year; the day of "Senior Night". The day was one big celebration! The papers I used are from the "Shine" collection from Maggie Holmes, which make a perfect match for the cut files I chose - with the flowery designs and the soft colors.

Here's the "Funky Florals" cut file I used. You'll find all of the cut files on my layout: the 4 different flowers and the two different leaves. LOVE how they look!

My initial idea was to color the white flowers, but when I placed them on the yellow background paper I like them better in white and so I decided to leave them like that.

Furthermore I decided to use my embossing powder for a change. I love the gold dipped look you see everywhere and thought that would look good on the wood veneer sentiment. I pressed the Versamark inking-pad on the bottom half of the wood veneer, covered it in gold embossing powder, shook off the excess powder and used my heating tool to melt the powder. Here's the result:

And one more close-up, just because:

Okay, this was my page! I hope I inspired you to use some of the fabulous cut files from The Cut Shoppe on your projects. To see all of cut files, please visit The Cut Shoppe etsy store!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Wishing you a crafty day!

Boos & Brews - new Doodlebug collection!

Hello friends!! I've got two Halloween projects up on Doodlebug's blog today! I got to play with the new "Boos & Brews" collection created a layout and another page for my birthday calendar.

Normally I don't have a lot of Halloween photos as we don't really celebrate Halloween in The Netherlands (although I think it's increasing every year!), but last year my daughter and her partner went to this Halloween party and I quickly took my chance and shot a few photos! So here's the layout I made with those photos:

I love to combine patterned papers, but I always need a more "subdued" pattern as a base and that's when the "petite prints" collections come in handy! In this case I used a "tangerine" color from the "Boos & Brews Petite Print" assortment to mat the "Weird Science" (black) paper.

The journaling was typed in Word first and then printed straight onto the tag. To get this done, I first printed the text on a normal white printing sheet, then adhered the tag on top of this with a bit of Scotch tape and fed it into the printer once again.

I adore the little Doodle-Pops like this little frog and the purple bat in the photo above.

And how about the mad scientist die-cut from the Odds & Ends package?! Isn't he adorable!! There are so many awesome embellishments in this collection, I could go on and on ... that spider Sprinkle for example, normally I don't like spiders but this one I love!

Supplies: Boos & Brews collection: Patterned Paper: Weird Science, Trick or Treat Stripe, Bubbling Brew; Die-Cuts: Odds & Ends; Sprinkles: Halloween Assortment Matte Sprinkles, Spooky Spiders, Eerie Eyes; Mini Doodle-Pops: Cute Critters; Labels & Tags; Petite Print Assortment.

And because I just needed to play some more with this collection and everything was still lying on my table I decorated a new month for my birthday calendar, using the "Daily Doodles" collection: here's the October page!

I printed a few photos to add to the page, but not too many as I wanted to use as many stickers, die-cuts, doodle-pops and sprinkles as possible!! One of my favorite die-cuts is this haunted house with all the eerie eyes!

Have you seen the fun "eerie eyes" Sprinkles? I just love those!! The little ghost looked cute with his "normal" eyes, but with the fun googly eyes he's even cuter!

I always love Doodlebug's washi tapes and this collection contains five different tapes!! I think that my favorite is this one, the "radioactive" washi tape!!

Supplies: Boos & Brews collection: Patterned Paper: Bubbling Brew, Daily Doodles; Die-Cuts: Odds & Ends; Washi Tape: Radioactive; Sprinkles: Halloween Assortment Matte Sprinkles, Spooky Spiders, Eerie Eyes; Stickers: Icons, This & That, Daily Doodles Lily White Months; Labels & Tags.

I hope you enjoyed my projects, I had a lot of fun creating them!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! Wishing you a wonderful and creative day!

Pebbles Warm & Cozy Cards with Foil Accents

Hi everyone! I've got two cards up on Pebbles' blog, created with the wonderful "Warm & Cozy" collection and wanted to share it here too.

A little while ago I got a Heatwave Foil Pen from We R Memory Keepers and I couldn’t wait to use it! While creating the Warm & Cozy cards for today’s blog post I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to give the Heatwave Pen a try. The colors and beautiful designs of this collection are perfect to add some extra foil accents to. Here’s what I created:

The Heatwave Pen came with a couple of foil sheets and I also got some fun templates for it. I used the top template (Script) for both my cards and chose a red and a gold sheet of foil.

The cards I created measure 4″ x 6″ and 6″ x 4″ and have a white cardstock base and two layers of patterned paper. Before adhering the patterned papers to my cardstock base I added the pennants and machine stitched along the outer edge of the top paper. Now I was ready to add the foil accents. Here’re a few photos how I did this: I used some washi tape to (temporarily) adhere my papers, template and foil to my cutting mat, so everything would stay in one place while foiling:

Because the foil pen becomes very hot you need a cutting mat or a glass plate as a working surface. The foil pen can be held just like you would a normal pen and without adding a lot of pressure you just follow the template.

It’s very easy and I really like the result! Next I adhered the papers to the white cardstock base and I added a few embellishments. Here’s a closer look at the cards. On this card you can see what the gold foil looks like:

And on this card you can see the red foil:

I really like the extra texture the foil gives!

Hope you like my Warm & Cozy cards! I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with this collection!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. Wishing you a fabulous day!

Two Doodlebug Flea Market Layouts!

If you're here for the Stuck?! Sketches / Clique Kits blog hop, just scroll down a bit! Thank you!

If not, then I've got a couple of Doodlebug layouts to share! I created them for the Flea Market feature on Doodlebug's blog. This collection is really amazing! I think it's my favorite collection so far, with awesome warm colors, super cute critters and versatile designs .... seriously, this collection has all I could ever wish for!

For my first layout I chose a photo of my youngest on his first day of school. It's the first day of his last year at this school and I couldn't wait to scrap it. When I saw this collection I knew straight away which photo I was going to use as the orange in the photo was just perfect!

Because of the very bright orange trousers my son is wearing I chose lots of orange for my layout. The mice die-cuts were chosen because the school building is very old and therefore I wouldn't be surprised to find at least a few little mice there, lol.

Both the hearts behind my photo and the title were cut with my Silhouette Cameo, which I use for almost all of my pages. The card with the typewriter was cut from the "Vintage Type" paper and don't you think that paper clip is awesome?!

More often than not I don't have enough room on my layout to add the journaling. On this layout I solved this by including a little treat bag with a journaling card in it half hidden behind the photo:

And now my second layout. For this layout I chose of photo of one of our vacations in France. I've been coming to this campsite ever since I was a little girl and now, 40 years later, I still come here. I've always loved this place and now my husband and kids love it here too. Here's my oldest son playing a computer game (yes, even when he's on vacation in France he still needs his iPod once in a while!)

For the background of this layout I used the "Strings Attached" digital cut file from The Cut Shoppe and adhered lots of little scraps of paper behind it. Only the centre heart remained empty (but is now so covered up you almost can't see it's a heart anymore!).

The little strips of paper with the expressions all came from the "Vintage Type" paper as well. Don't you just love that little caravan?! It's perfect for my page as we always stay in caravan when we're here.

I totally adore the "Fall Leaves" shape sprinkles and used quite a lot of them. I'm so happy all the new Doodlebug collections now contain a package with "Odds & Ends"! I use so many of them, like the camera, the sun flowers (perfect for photos of France), the mice ... I just love them all!

And again my journaling came last, but in this case I left enough room to add it.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! Wishing you a wonderful week!

Now lets get this party started!  Here's the sketch!

And here's my take on it, using the September kit from Clique Kits and two flair buttons from Accent Scrapbooking! I made a few adjustments, but hey that's what you do when using sketches, right? and it's still obvious I used the sketch, I was just that I wanted to use the large circle shaped sheet ("Dreamcatcher" from Kaiserkraft) for my background ...

and a few close-ups:

I really adore Clique Kits' September kit! Here, have a look at what they sent me ... awesome right?!

And from one of the other of this month's sponsors "Accent Scrapbooking" we received these flair buttons! Aren't they awesome! It felt like I was having my birthday when all of this arrived!!
